Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)

Contact us for a diagnostic appointment.

Otoplasty is a modern cosmetic procedure aimed at improving the shape, size, or position of the ears. It is an ideal solution for individuals who experience discomfort due to prominent or asymmetrical ears, as well as for cases of congenital deformities or injuries. The surgery does not affect hearing and is purely cosmetic, contributing significantly to facial harmony and symmetry.

Consultation Session

During your initial consultation visit, the primary goal is to clearly define your personal desires and expectations from the procedure. The surgeon will evaluate whether you are a suitable candidate for the surgery by taking a detailed medical history and performing a clinical examination. During the discussion, all available options will be presented, along with the most appropriate therapeutic approach, and comprehensive information regarding the procedure and expected results.

Anesthesia & Hospital Stay

The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia and does not require hospitalization, allowing you to return home on the same day. In certain cases, such as with children or upon patient request, it can be performed under general anesthesia to ensure greater comfort and cooperation during the process.

Associated Risks in Otoplasty

Otoplasty is a safe procedure with limited risks. Complications are rare and may include mild swelling, bruising, or, in rare instances, recurrence. In any case, it is important to contact your surgeon if you notice anything that concerns you during the recovery period.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to expect after the surgery?

After the procedure, it is normal to experience mild swelling or tenderness in the area. You will need to wear a special elastic headband continuously for about 2 weeks, which helps maintain the correct position and aids in the healing of the ears. Following that, its use is continued for another 2 weeks, only during the night. The sutures are removed after 8–10 days.

Will it leave scars?

The incisions are made behind the ears, which makes the scars practically invisible. Over time, the scars flatten out and become even less noticeable.

How long does it take to return to my normal life?

Most patients return to their daily activities as early as the very next day, provided there is no discomfort from the headband. A full return to all activities occurs gradually over a few weeks, and it is advisable to avoid strenuous physical activity for about one month.

What do I need to know in the long term?

The results of otoplasty are permanent. Once full healing is complete, the ears retain their new shape, offering a natural and symmetrical outcome.
